Nintendo Switch 2: two exclusive games available for free download, try them now

Presented as an ambitious but largely ignored exclusive, “Drag x Drive” offers a unique experience: sports competitions… in a wheelchair, with motion controls. The idea was intriguing when it was announced, but the game went unnoticed when the console launched.

To make up for it, Nintendo is now rolling out a playable demo. It allows you to “familiarize yourself with the tutorial, challenge bots in 3-on-3 matches and explore the park”, the game’s social space. Even if online multiplayer is blocked in this version, the trial remains complete enough to get an idea. The title, strange as it is, perhaps deserves a chance. And after all, what is the risk of testing it for free?

A Switch 2 catalog still mixed

Since its release, the Switch 2 has struggled to convince with its offering of exclusive games. Certainly, there have been successes like “Donkey Kong Bananza” and “Kirby Air Riders”, but also much less exciting titles, like “Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment” or “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond”.

The impression of a shaky catalog persists. This lack of consistency makes free trials all the more valuable: they offer players a no-commitment entry point into an ecosystem still under construction.

Encouraging signs for 2026

Despite this mixed start, the outlook for next year looks more encouraging. Several anticipated games have been announced, such as a new sports Mario, the mysterious “Pokémon Pokopia”, or even “The Duskbloods”, a Souls-like signed FromSoftware and exclusive to the Switch 2.

A Nintendo Direct in early 2025 could clarify the roadmap. Until then, the games offered occasionally can keep the most curious waiting.

Should we already fall for the Switch 2?

For now, it’s difficult to recommend the console to everyone. If you already own a classic Switch, it might be better to wait a little longer. The current free offer, as welcome as it is, isn’t enough to justify the jump.

But “2026 could well be the year where the console shines brightly”. And in the meantime, taking advantage of free games like “Drag x Drive” allows you to keep one foot in the Nintendo universe without breaking the bank.
