Initially announced for May 26, 2026, the highly anticipated GTA 6 had already experienced a first official postponement. In October, Rockstar Games postponed its release to November 19 of the same year. A six-month delay, which caused a wave of frustration among the players.
This change was, however, justified by the publisher, in a statement: “We are sorry to add time to what has already been a long wait, but these additional months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish that you expect and deserve.”
Rumors kept alive by waiting
Since this announcement, a climate of excitement has surrounded the project. As time passes, leaks, rumors and fake trailers generated by AI are increasing on networks. Every silence from Rockstar fuels speculation.
Reilly, who was already the source of specific revelations about the initial postponement, was categorical: “These people are just trying to create rumors to generate interest. If I hear of another postponement, I will keep you informed, but for now, stop believing in this nonsense. Calm down, GTA fans.”
Rockstar and his obsession with perfectionism
It’s no secret: Rockstar Games doesn’t compromise on excellence. GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2… each time, the studio preferred to delay the release to deliver games refined down to the last pixel. GTA 6 seems to be following the same trajectory.
With a revised RAGE engine and an ambition that meets expectations, GTA 6 promises to be a titanic project. But this comes at a price: that of patience. As long as Rockstar does not officially communicate about a new postponement, the date of November 19, 2026 remains current.
Should we fear a postponement to 2027?
As things currently stand, there is nothing to confirm that GTA 6 will be postponed a second time. The publisher remains silent, insiders deny it, and the rumors are not based on any reliable source.
The only certainty: the pressure around the game is immense, and each piece of information, true or false, has the effect of a bomb. It remains to be hoped that the next official communication from Rockstar will finally bring everyone into agreement.
