In a rare move for a AAA title, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is available for free for a limited period, from December 16 to 22, 2025, allowing everyone to try the multiplayer and Zombies mode without spending a cent. This operation comes barely a month after the release of the game, which struggles to convince as strongly as the previous episodes of the franchise.
The offer provides access to a selection of multiplayer and Zombies content for the duration of the free trial, including more than 20 multiplayer mapsseveral popular competitive modes and Zombies mode Ashes of the Damned.

During this free test available until December 22players can try out a selection of well-established modes and maps in the series Call of Duty.

According to Activision, this offer is in place “for a limited time from December 16 to 22”, giving almost all platforms (Xbox, PlayStation and PC) the opportunity to participate.
Why this free service could be a game-changer
This initiative comes against a backdrop of intense competition between multiplayer FPS games. Some platforms and journalists point out that Black Ops 7 did not meet with the same critical or commercial success as other recent titles like Battlefield 6 Or Arc Raiders.
“We would like you to be able to discover the game for yourselves and form your own opinion,” writes Activision in a press release relayed by several media.
This sentence highlights the publisher’s strategy for reconnect with fans’ expectations by allowing free access to a substantial part of the content.
A win-back strategy amid mixed reception
The free Black Ops 7 doesn’t come out of nowhere. The reception of this new opus was more lukewarm than expected, and Activision seems to want to attract new players or bring back old ones to stimulate sales.
