Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is now available on Switch 2 and mobile, as is the new Challenge mode

New outfits and more achievements

Since day one, it has been difficult to be fully satisfied with Tomb Raider I-III Remasteredcollection bringing together the first three games of the license. A very regressive experience, obviously, with new look environments and redone character models, but a remaster work which lacked flexibility in the gameplay and additions linked to quality of life.

Seeing an update arrive, we could have started dreaming, for example, of a real quick save or a final graphical tweak. Alas no, Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics instead opted for a free Challenge modewhich trophy/achievement leaks had already suggested ahead of the official announcement.

The goal is to give us the possibility of customizing the levels of the trilogy by modifying our amount of health, the damage inflicted and received, or by choosing the types of enemies and their number. You can even activate infinite oxygen underwater as well as more or less pronounced health regeneration for Lara.

Finally, we would like to say. Such modifiers included from the start could have smoothed out the experience for newbies, but better late than never. Conversely, the hardcore public will be able to inflict hefty penalties on themselves for take on challenges to unlock additional trophies/achievements as well as new outfits. The more constraints you put on yourself, the more you increase the CR (challenge rating) and the more interesting the rewards will be.

Note that the different outfits all come with their own modifiers, such as being immune to fire or offering hyper armor ignoring one damage every 90 seconds. The only downside is that the outfits come out of nowhere and their textures are not as neat as the basic outfits.

In any case, this addition does not seem to be unanimously accepted by the community, which apparently had the misfortune of seeing bugs appear when installing the update. At least, note that the compilation is now available on Switch 2, iOS and Android.
