Even before the complete announcement of the monthly catalog, Sony has already confirmed the arrival of a first PS Plus Premium game for March 2026. The information, revealed during PlayStation State of Play in February, went relatively unnoticed, but it concerns a title well known to players.
Tekken: Dark Resurrection, an improved version of the famous PSP episode, will soon join the selection of classics accessible to Premium subscribers. A return which is part of Sony’s current strategy around its retro catalog.
Tekken: Dark Resurrection arrives March 17 in the Premium catalog
The game will officially join the PS Plus Premium classics catalog on Tuesday March 17, 2026. This date coincides with the addition of the other Extra and Premium titles of the month. Sony will announce the full lineup on Wednesday, March 11. Like every month, the same day will also see communication on the games that will leave the service.
Originally released on PSP, Tekken: Dark Resurrection represents an expanded version of Tekken 5, with additional characters and balance adjustments. Its arrival is part of the desire to gradually offer titles from older PlayStation generations.
PS4 affected despite the refocusing on the PS5?
Sony has indicated that it wants to focus its efforts on PS5 games from 2026. However, the history of PlayStation classics suggests that Tekken: Dark Resurrection could also be available on PS4. So far, retro titles included in PS Plus Premium have consistently been playable on both consoles. No official confirmation has been given for this specific case, but the trend remains consistent. Another notable point: given that this is a game published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, the presence of a trophy system seems unlikely. The publisher has not integrated this functionality on its previous classics offered via the service.
Only one classic per month for Premium subscribers?
In May, Sony already confirmed the arrival of Time Crisis, an iconic PS1 game. However, the content planned for April has not yet been revealed. The latest additions suggest that Sony would now favor a rate of one classic title per month for Premium subscribers. A more moderate pace than that observed when the service was launched. Tekken: Dark Resurrection will also be available for purchase separately through the PS Store for players who do not wish to purchase the subscription. Between now and March 17, Premium subscribers now await the full list of additions for the month, due March 11.
