First trailer for “The Cat and the Dragon” anime + visual


A first trailer for the upcoming series was published today on the X account of the anime adaptation of “The Cat and the Dragon” (Japanese: “Neko to Ryuu”). You can find the video along with a visual further down in this article.

Starting in July 2026

»The Cat and the Dragon« is produced under the direction of director Jin-Koo Oh (“Beyblade Burst Surge”) at Studio OLM. Mitsutaka Hirota (“This Monster Wants to Eat Me”) is writing the script, while Rie Nishino (“The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light”) and Chiaki Kurakaz are contributing the character design.

The main roles of the Japanese cast include Takehito Koyasu (Zeke Yeager in “Attack on Titan”) as Nekoryuu and Kikuko Inoue (Kasumi Tendou in “Ranma 1/2”) as Mama-nyan. The broadcast is scheduled to start in July 2026.

The original light novel series of the same name by Amara has been published in Japan since April 2016 with illustrations by Mai Ookuma. A manga adaptation by Izumi Sasaki has been published on the “Kono Manga ga sugoi!” website since September 2017.

Action:

A fire-breathing dragon that once hated humans is raised in the forest by a mother cat. As “Uncle Wing,” he lovingly looks after curious cats – including a prince’s companion and a city cat. Through them he gradually learns to approach people with an open heart.
