Trails by the dozen
Let’s recap. The Trails series works in arcs and we witnessed the release of the third episode of the one on Calvard, with The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon. At the same time, we are entitled to remakes, and Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is the next one to be released this fall.
And on the occasion of Falcom’s 45th anniversary, the Japanese company gives us news on what’s next through its president Toshihiro Kondo. During an interview with Famitsu, he gives us an overview of the news and the future of the sprawling license.
First, the theme “Silver Will, Golden Wings” will return in Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapterand it is already saved. Then, the next entry in the saga (apart from the 2nd Chapter remake) will be The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon II, the storyline of which has already been completed.
But Kondo goes even further and is able to announce that the story lines for the end of the Trails series have been drawn. It is even stated that the saga will reach its end point in 2032, and that the announcement of the final title will be made in 2031, for Falcom’s 50th anniversary.. We both want to say “finally”, as the publisher and developer has bombed all these years, and at the same time it seems quite crazy to imagine an end to this adventure, especially six years in advance. The final protagonist would in any case already have his job defined.
Falcom takes a look at its projects

Toshihiro Kondo also takes this opportunity to discuss the rest of Falcom’s work. The next Ysalready teased at the end of last year, has entered development, without being able to reveal the title to the public yet. Regarding Kyotorevealed a month ago, Kondo recognizes that there have been both positive and negative reactions, mainly towards the 2D turn of this episode. The president still has confidence in the fun potential of the game, and specifies that there will be four difficulty modes.
Finally, all freshly announced Dragon Slayer Projectwas once again broached, without having confirmation that it is a remake or a new episode. As a reminder, this is a 40-year-old license, which helped to redefine the approach to RPG, notably with real-time combat and the use of spells and objects to solve puzzles.
Furthermore, the sixth entry in the series is none other than Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroesreleased in 1989, which ended up being turn-based. The Legend of Heroes…who gave The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky…The circle is ready to come full circle in Falcom’s next few years.
