Further layoffs expected
Eidos Montreal has not yet made a statement on this subject, but Insider Gaming was able to see on LinkedIn that a good dozen studio employees now find themselves unemployedas gameplay director Samuel Daher:
“II worked at Eidos, I loved being there and I would have stayed, but times are difficult. I look forward to finding a new professional home to lead the design of new productions. »
The site specifies that several projects have been canceled within Eidos Montreal, including that of a game Deus Exwhich would now be reduced to being just a support studio for certain Xbox productions. He would therefore work on Grounded 2 alongside Obsidian, but also on the next Fabledriven by Playground Games. And this would apparently just be a small reprieve before more budget cuts once these productions are completed. Enough to raise fears of the imminent disappearance of an emblematic studio, which has been in danger since it came under the supervision of Embracer. Unless the license is entrusted to another studio, it is not tomorrow that Deus Ex will make a comeback.
