Next month, Warner Bros. Discovery will launch its streaming service HBO Max in German-speaking Europe. There are now more details.
Starting January 13, 2026
HBO Max will therefore be available to customers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland from January 13, 2026. Registration will only be possible on this day via both the provider’s website and app.
In Germany, subscription prices start at 5.99 euros per month for the “Basic with Advertising” package. This allows users to stream content in Full HD on two devices in parallel. The ad-free standard subscription costs 12.99 euros per month and also offers full HD streaming on two devices and up to 30 downloads.
The premium subscription is required for series and films in 4K Ultra HD and with Dolby Atmos. This costs 16.99 euros per month and allows simultaneous streaming on up to four devices and up to 100 downloads.
The prices mentioned are only valid until December 31, 2026. From January 1, 2027, each subscription increases by 1 euro. In addition, a sports add-on that is not available individually is available for 3 euros per month, which includes up to two streams with advertising – and is currently not affected by the price increase.
In terms of content, HBO Max offers exclusive series such as “House of the Dragon” and “The Last of Us”, but in its home country of the USA it also has anime titles such as “Rick and Morty: The Anime”, “Housing Complex C”, “Uzumaki” and “Lazarus” in its program. It is still unclear whether these will be available at the start in Germany.
