The studio will provide more details on Divinity through this exercise
That AI is used in various technical tasks is something that can be accepted by the public, but that generative AI even remotely touches an artistic field (even temporarily), that is the limit that must not be crossed for many people. Even if Swen Vincke affirms that no artist has been replaced since Larian used the tool, many still deplore its use, even ex-employees of the group, like Selena Tobin, environmental artistwhich states:
“ Here’s my opinion: I loved working at Larian Studio until AI came along. Review your strategy and change course as quickly as possible. Respect your employees: they are exceptional and don’t need AI to come up with brilliant ideas. »
Suffice it to say that the rumblings are still far from being calmed. Swen Vincke therefore intends to put things straight via a question-and-answer session highlighting various departments of Larian, in order to talk about certain subjects concerning the development itself while answering some questions about divinity :
“ It’s been a week since we announced Divinity, our next RPG, and a lot has been lost in translation. Larian’s DNA is autonomy. Everything we do is aimed at improving our teams, our games and our players. For more pleasant workdays and better quality games. Our success is based on our ability to give everyone the means to work in their own way and to make the most of their skills and know-how, in order to create the best RPGs possible. In this context, it would be irresponsible of us not to evaluate new technologies. However, our processes are constantly evolving, and when they prove ineffective or inconsistent with our values, we change them. To give you more information, we will be hosting a Q&A session with our various departments after the holidays, during which you will have the opportunity to ask us directly any questions you have about Divinity and our development process. »
No date yet for this exposure, but see you in early 2026 to see if these details will allow for a more peaceful debate, or if this will only add fuel to the fire.
