ARK: Survival Evolved will be the center of attention in 2026 and 2027
TrackingARK: Survival Evolved required a lot of resources from the studio, and this continues today since the extension ARK: Lost Colony will be available this week if we are to believe Jeremy Stieglitz. This episode was nevertheless crowned with success since to date, 4 million copies would have been soldwhile mods are a hit in the game.
And this extension shows to what extent the studio has not abandoned its ambitions, since certain scenes produced by the MAPPA studio (Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan) will be offered here to tell the story, with the presence of Michelle Yeoh in dubbing as well as Madeleine Madden, Auli’i Cravalho, and even Karl Urban who is back. A roadmap extending until 2027 was also shared, with several upcoming collaborations.
All this is very good for ARK: Survival Evolvedbut what aboutARK 2 ? Well, a priori we will have to wait until the end of 2027 with the extension Legacy of Santiago to get an overviewsince this is described as a prequel that lays the groundwork for this sequel.
A Vin Diesel still uncertain
Which means that this ARK 2 will not be released before 2028. And again, this is what the studio is aiming for at the moment, so let’s not take this at face value as there have been numerous delays on this game. Jeremy Stieglitz declares:
“ One of the important aspects of developing ARK 2 was the need to learn more about creating the type of game we wanted, and do so in stages. Learning to master the technology and game mechanics seemed more sensible to us than directly releasing a complete product called ARK 2. With this expansion, Legacy of Santiago, we are going to introduce many mechanics and features that we wanted to test in ARK 2, initially as an expansion to ARK: Survival Ascended. »
Studio Wildcard wants to be very careful here since it knows that it already has a game that works for the moment, without any real need to take too many risks with a sequel. Especially because he is not yet very sure of a thorny point: that of the presence of Vin Diesel.
Announced at the casting with the first video of the game, the actor of Fast & Furious does not necessarily have a very free schedule, which is why the studio does not yet know to what extent he will be able to be present. And it is this uncertainty that prevents Studio Wildcard from properly preparing the narrative dimension ofARK 2 :
“ We have a much more ambitious scenario for ARK 2. But to be frank, everything will depend greatly on Vin Diesel’s involvement, which still remains uncertain. The question is: what will his contribution be? One day, five days, eight hours? We don’t know. And his involvement will determine how the scenario unfolds. We have planned different approaches: if Vin Diesel is very present, this is what we will do; if he is not very present, here is what we will do. »
The studio still has time to see this coming anyway given that 2028 is not tomorrow.
