Catching all the Pokémon in Pokémon GO has never been more difficult. Some are so discreet or conditioned by twisted mechanics that they escape even the most dedicated players. This is the case of Kecleon, which is not found in nature but… on PokéStops. Invisible to the naked eye, you must locate it on the disk and make it appear on the main screen. A real hunt for the invisible.
Salazzle can only evolve from a female Salandit, an extremely rare combination obtained only from 12 km eggs. “You could hatch lots of Salandit and never get a female.”
As for Keldeo, it’s a special case: offered only in a paid research scenario in December 2022, this fabulous Pokémon has not reappeared since. “Since that time, there is no longer any way to obtain Keldeo.” And since it is neither exchangeable nor reintroduced, its return remains uncertain.
Regional Pokémon: Comfey, Hawlucha or Klefki, it all depends on where you play
Regional Pokémon continue to widen inequalities between players. Unless you travel, it’s impossible to catch a Tauros (USA), a Hawlucha (Mexico) or a Comfey (Hawaii). The latter is also considered one of the rarest at the moment, because its area of appearance is restricted and sparsely populated.
Global events like the Pokémon GO Tour sometimes unlock them, but these occasions are rare. Trainers who live in regions with little coverage can thus complete their Pokédex more easily, while others will have to turn to exchanges… if they find any.
Zygarde and Gimmighoul: formidable evolution mechanics
Some Pokémon are not rare by their appearance, but by the complexity of their evolution. This is the case of Zygarde (Complete Form), unlocking which requires the accumulation of 250 Zygarde cells. These are only obtained by completing courses in the game, at a rate of three per day maximum. “You had to complete courses every day for 84 days to gather enough Zygarde Cells and unlock Zygarde (Full Form).”
Gimmighoul, for its part, can only be caught after connecting with Pokémon Scarlet/Violet on Switch. To evolve it into Gholdengo, you will need to collect 999 pieces Gimmighoul via golden PokéStops. But “Golden PokéStops are quite rare outside of special events, so it could be a very, very long time before you can get this evolution.”
Pokémon events: Twilight Lycanroc, Volcarona, and the Lake Guardians
Lycanroc Twilight form can only evolve from a specific Rockruff, with a very specific condition that remains invisible before capture. As for Volcarona, it is the result of a double rarity: hatching Larvesta, which is very difficult, then bringing together 400 Larvesta candies.
Finally, the legendary Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf are among the only ones to appear in the wild… but only in specific geographic areas. It will therefore be necessary to travel between Asia, Europe and America to hope to reunite them.
