With the opening of an official website, it was announced today that the fantasy novel “Always a Catch!” (Japanese: “Nigashita Sakana wa Ookikatta ga Tsuriageta Sakana ga Ookisugita Ken”) is getting an anime adaptation. You can find a first teaser below.
Starting in spring 2026
“Always a Catch!” is produced at Studio TROYCA under the direction of director Akira Oguro (“Giant Beasts of Ars”). Michiko Yokote (“Puniru is a Kawaii Slime”) is writing the script, while Isamu Suzuki is contributing the character design.
The main roles of the Japanese voice cast include Yuu Serizawa (Mini Yaemori in “Rent-A-Girlfriend”) as Maria Annovazzi and Atsushi Tamaru (Arthur in “Promise of Wizard”) as Renato di Rubini. Saori Hayami (Laina in “Hero Without a Class”) voices Aida Ametis. The launch on Japanese television is planned for spring 2026.
The original light novel series of the same name by Mayo Momoyo has been published in Japan since August 2021 with illustrations by Itsuki Mito. A manga adaptation written by Kaki Nagato has been published on the “Manga Up!” website since July 2022.
