The former design director of the first Saints Row would have been asked to produce a pitch for a new episode

The idea of a game in the 70s would be put on the table

In any case, this is what Stockman puts forward on Reddit (relayed by VGC), in a message where he claims to have the responsibility of giving birth to a pitch for a new game Saints Row :

I was asked to prepare a pitch for a Saints Row reboot! I can’t say more at the moment, but my dreams for this game are coming true! »

He then specifies that it will not be an episode in virtual reality, a hypothesis put forward by many people on Reddit to the extent that the person concerned now works for Bit Planet Games, specializing in VR. According to PCGamesN, Stockman indicates that he was contacted by Embracer Group (which owns the rights to the license) after making a call in this direction during an interview with eSports Insider. At the time, he mooted the idea of a prequel set in the ’70s, which would explain how the gangs from the first episode were formed:

We would walk around with teenagers who would become the main characters of the first game. We could really immerse ourselves fully in the atmosphere of the 70s: afro cuts, bell bottom pants and period music. »

A historical context which would have allowed the series to emancipate itself and avoid direct competition with GTAaccording to Stockman. Who knows if this idea will be enough to convince Embracer, and if the license can be relaunched in the years to come.
