Return to profitability

As can be seen from the current annual report, A-1 Pictures generated a net profit of around 91.6 million yen (around 497,000 euros) in the 2025 financial year (April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026). In the previous year there was a net loss of around 178 million yen (around 965,000 euros).

As of March 31, 2026, the company’s assets amounted to approximately 2.34 billion yen (approximately 12.7 million euros). At this point, equity was just under 768 million yen (around 4.2 million euros).

The studio’s most important productions in the past fiscal year included “Kaguya-sama: Love Is War – The Stairway to Adulthood”, “Fate/strange Fake” and “Uta no☆Prince-sama TABOO NIGHT XXXX”.

In addition, numerous well-known anime series such as “Sword Art Online”, “Solo Leveling”, “86 EIGHTY-SIX”, “Lycoris Recoil”, “NieR:Automata Ver1.1a” and “Mashle: Magic and Muscles” come from A-1 Pictures.

A-1 Pictures has been part of the Sony subsidiary Aniplex since its founding in 2005 and is now one of the most successful anime studios in Japan. Just a few days ago, the sister studio CloverWorks also published its annual report – and announced another loss.
