Battlefield 6 becomes free for a week on PS5, Xbox and PC

Shooting game fans will be able to discover Battlefield 6 without spending a single euro. Electronic Arts is offering free access to the game for a limited time to allow players to try out one of the most popular FPS games of the year. The operation takes place from March 17 to 24 and allows players to test several of the title’s multiplayer modes. Access is via Battlefield REDSEC, a spin-off already available for free.

Battlefield 6 free for a week

Throughout the duration of the event, players can experience several maps and modes from the main game. The trial notably includes three different playlists, each offering a distinct approach to Battlefield 6 gameplay. The first playlist is mainly aimed at players who are new to the series or who prefer a more accessible experience. It offers Casual Breakthrough mode.

According to information shared by the developers, this mode offers “a more relaxed way” to experience the game “while progressing and meeting challenges”. The games bring together 16 real players accompanied by 32 characters controlled by artificial intelligence. The clashes take place on three maps: Hagental Base, Contaminated and Eastwood.

Three playlists to discover FPS gameplay

The second playlist offered during this free trial is called Nightfall. It includes several popular modes like team deathmatch, squad deathmatch and domination mode. In this particular playlist, the action takes place in complete darkness. Players must use night vision to locate their opponents. As the event describes it, “the lights are out and the hunt is on.” The clashes take place on the Hagental Base map.

Total War mode features the biggest battles

The third playlist available during this free trial is called Total War. It includes some of the franchise’s most beloved fan modes, including Conquest, Breakthrough, and Escalation. This playlist also offers the largest selection of maps among the three modes available. Players can compete on four different maps, including two from season 2 of the game, Contaminated and Hagental Base. Two Season 1 maps are also playable during the event: Eastwood and Mirak Valley.

A successful return for the Battlefield franchise

Released in 2025, Battlefield 6 marks a solid return for the series after the difficulties Battlefield 2042 faced at launch. The game has a score of 83 on MetaCritic and has established itself as one of the best-selling titles of the year. The review particularly highlights the quality of the multiplayer, a central element of the Battlefield experience. “It’s multiplayer that remains Battlefield 6’s greatest asset, as it always has been for this series.”

“Well-designed maps and strong team play features ensure engaging online games.” “It’s hard-hitting, direct, and exciting. Everything feels like it’s been carefully thought out to match what players have wanted since the series’ golden era.” Players can take advantage of this free period to experience the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
