A few days ago, an X user reported an unpleasant incident with the US customs authorities – and it went viral. We summarize.
Collectible destroyed
A year before the release of Type-Moon’s visual novel “Tsukihime” on December 29, 2000, an official demo version of the game was offered on disk for just 100 yen at Comiket 57. Today, 26 years later, this version is considered one of the rarest rarities in the history of visual novels.
The edition of the “Tsukihime Trial Edition” was only 50 copies – which makes the loss that the X user @TehKeripo has now suffered all the more bitter.
He was able to purchase one of the coveted specimens from a collector in Portugal, who even took pictures of the careful packaging process using multiple layers of bubble wrap and cardboard. When it arrived, however, there was hardly anything left – and the disk itself was completely destroyed.
A label on the package indicates that the shipment was opened by US Customs. The destroyed disk suggests officials may have classified it as illegal, explicit material. However, even in such a case, destruction of the goods would not actually be planned.
Although the X user did not make the purchase price public, the collectible has reached prices of up to $16,000 in previous sales. For him, however, the moral loss was more serious than the financial damage, as he said he had been looking for the game for over 15 years.
The post went viral and reached almost 20 million views and more than 22,000 reposts in just a few days. You can find the corresponding pictures under these lines.
