Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is almost free on Switch, don’t miss this Gold offer

An action game that offers over a hundred monsters, fourteen types of weapons and dozens of hours of hunting for the price of a coffee? The offer seems almost unreal. However, until February 26, 2026, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is priced at €4.99 on the Nintendo Switch eShop, compared to the usual €49.99. A 90% reduction which puts this episode at the center of attention.

Behind this promotion hides a title which, despite its age, remains one of the richest in the Monster Hunter saga. Rated 16/20 in our test, it has often been described as an “absolutely titanic” experience as the density of content is so impressive.

An episode designed as a celebration of the saga

Rather than a simple opus, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate functions as an ambitious synthesis of everything that made the franchise strong.

The game allows you to travel through four distinct villages, including the town of Bherna, and face a varied fauna including the formidable Deviant monsters, particularly powerful mutated versions.

  • The Astalos
  • The Gammoth
  • The Mizutsune
  • The Glavenus

Added to this is an impressive arsenal of 14 weapon types, each offering a radically different fighting style.

Some of the most comprehensive combat systems in the series

What particularly distinguishes Generations Ultimate is the variety of martial approaches. Hunting Arts offer spectacular special abilities, while Hunting Styles profoundly change the way you approach a confrontation. The Aerial style favors vertical mobility, while other styles, like Valiant or Alchemist, introduce more strategic mechanics. Prowler mode even allows you to play as a Felyne, an unexpected alternative that renews the experience. This richness of gameplay, however, requires patience and investment, especially in rank G missions, known for their high difficulty.

A generous but demanding experience

One of the game’s major assets remains its longevity. More than a hundred monsters to hunt down means as many fights to master and pieces of equipment to forge. This generosity is accompanied by demanding learning. The absence of a strong narrative and a less accessible handling than recent episodes may surprise newcomers. Experienced hunters, on the other hand, find it a methodical and rewarding challenge.

A technical heritage marked by its 3DS origin

Initially developed for Nintendo 3DS, the game retains certain features inherited from this generation. Textures can appear dated and loading times between areas remain frequent. Compared to Monster Hunter World or Monster Hunter Rise, the visual difference is noticeable. However, for many players, these limitations are offset by the depth of content and diversity of encounters.

A massive gateway into the Capcom universe

Since the release of Generations Ultimate, the series has evolved with Monster Hunter World, Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Wilds. Each episode has modernized the formula. At €4.99 until February 26 on Nintendo Switch, Generations Ultimate now represents an opportunity to explore one of the densest chapters of the franchise at a lower cost.
