Xbox Games Pass welcomes this new hit nominated for the Game Awards

Microsoft has just confirmed the arrival of Mortal Kombat 1 on Xbox Game Pass. The game has been available since December 10 for all subscribers to the Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass plans. This new opus marks a complete reboot of the franchisecarried by Warner Bros. Games, with a completely reinvented universe and timeline.

Mortal Kombat 1 follows directly from the events of the expansion Aftermath of Mortal Kombat 11in which Liu Kang takes possession of the Kronika’s Hourglass to reconstruct time and create a new reality. This reboot is therefore the perfect opportunity for new players to dive into the bloody universe of the series without needing to know the previous episodes.

A critically acclaimed game, despite the competition

Upon its release, Mortal Kombat 1 had been appointed twice to the Game Awards 2023in the “Best Fighting Game” and “Accessibility Innovation” categories. Although he did not win a trophy that year – the distinctions having gone to Street Fighter 6 And Forza Motorsport – the game nevertheless received a generally positive reception.

The Xbox Series X/S version thus displays a rating of 84 on Metacritica sign of solid reception, notably thanks to its impressive visuals, its revised artistic direction and its modernized combat mechanics.

Mortal Kombat 11 also available on Game Pass

Players curious to compare the two versions have something to do: Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is still present in the Game Pass catalog. This allows you to explore the differences in gameplay, narrative and tone between the two titles, with the possibility of rediscovering iconic characters before their rewrite in MK1.

Between these two games, subscribers have a complete overview of the saga, covering both its “classic” conclusion and its storyline renewal.
