The Naughty Dog studio, known for its major licenses like The Last of Us and Uncharted, has given an important sign of life regarding its next original project. Entitled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, this new science fiction game has intrigued since its announcement at the Game Awards 2024.

An ambitious new license from Naughty Dog

After having marked the industry with The Last of Us and Uncharted, Naughty Dog is preparing a brand new franchise. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet takes place thousands of years in the future, while adopting a retro aesthetic inspired by the 80s. The game will feature a bounty hunter named Jordan A. Mun, played by Tati Gabrielle, already known for her roles in popular series. Since its official announcement, information has remained scarce, which has fueled curiosity and impatience.

A key indicator of development progress

Writer and director Neil Druckmann recently shared a photo on Instagram of actress Merle Dandridge in a motion capture suit. He accompanied the image with an enthusiastic message:
“Merle Dandridge is an intergalactic national treasure. » Merle Dandridge is well known to Naughty Dog fans. She played Marlene in The Last of Us, both in the original game and the HBO adaptation, as well as Evelyn in Uncharted 4. Her presence in motion capture suggests that production of Intergalactic is actively progressing.

Still no real gameplay trailer

Despite this progress, Naughty Dog has still not revealed a complete gameplay sequence. Only brief previews have been shown so far, with no detailed demonstration of the game mechanics. Since motion capture is still in progress, we’ll likely have to wait to see actual gameplay.

A release planned for PS5 in 2027

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is currently planned for PlayStation 5 in 2027. No specific date has yet been communicated. In the meantime, this simple hint on the progress of development already constitutes excellent news for players who closely follow Naughty Dog’s projects.
