Since then, the forums have been overflowing with reactions, the networks are panicking, and some players are already worried about their hard drive space. But this information is simply… false.
Which doesn’t stop the rumor from circulating the web at the speed of a stolen car in Los Santos. Behind this leak, a user from X (formerly Twitter), known under the nickname TheCanadianGTR.
Will GTA 6 really weigh 676 GB?
“According to the leak, the file size of Grand Theft Auto 6 is 676.7 GB.” An impressive figure, but greatly exaggerated. For comparison, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is around 250 GB with all its extensions.
The clue that betrayed this false information? The mention “Xbox One compatible”, while GTA 6 is only planned for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. “This figure is demonstrably false.”
The author of the rumor has not provided any official screenshots or verifiable technical documents. It would therefore be more of a buzz than a real leak.
Why has this rumor gained so much momentum?
In less than 24 hours, the X post mentioning the 676 GB came close to 10 million views. The success of this publication above all shows how hungry players are for details about Rockstar’s game. “All of this proves that players are hungry for information about Grand Theft Auto 6, as often as possible.”
