Sony confirms it is not interested in buying Warner Bros.

Sony has its head elsewhere

Who will buy Warner Bros? That’s the burning question right now in Hollywood. Several big names are jostling behind the scenes to try to get their hands on a company with an ultra-rich catalog, but for its part, Sony is not interested at all. In any case, this is what its CEO Hiroki Totoki declares, who responded to a question from Nikkei on this subject:

For the moment, we do not want to embark on a major M&A operation in Hollywood. We want to consolidate our strengths in animation and video games. »

Sony would in any case have a hard time positioning itself as a buyer for the entire Warner Bros group, as it is so expensive. And even in terms of cinema, Sony wants to focus on the market which is evolving at the moment, that of anime (in addition to that of games), as evidenced by the success of the latest film. Demon Slayerwhich grossed more than $660,000 million at the box office (Sony is producing via Aniplex), one of the biggest cinema successes of the year. Totoki does not, however, specify whether a takeover of the group’s video games division could be possible, but even Warner Bros has not been very clear on this subject at the moment.

We are now waiting to know who will really be interested in Warner Bros (apart from Skydance/Paramount) to know what will happen to Warner Bros Games and its studios.
