The Pokémon Company is preparing an explosive start to the school year with Rising Heroes, the next expansion to the Trading Card Game. An official date has already been announced, and the first cards promise to raise the stakes.
Scheduled for January 30, Heroes Rising will be the third major expansion of the Mega Evolution era, initiated by Pokémon Legends: ZA. This new series will introduce several iconic creatures, including two highly anticipated headliners: Mega Dracolossus and Mega Charizard Y. An announcement that is enough to reignite the frenzy around the Pokémon TCG.
An expansion eagerly awaited by fans and collectors
Confirmed by The Pokémon Company, the release of Rising Heroes will also mark the return of long-absent mechanics. “Heroes Rising will feature many Pokémon, including Mega Dracolossus and Mega Charizard Y.”
The new expansion promises to considerably enrich players’ decks with the unprecedented appearance of Star Pokémon, as well as the return of the famous Owner Pokémon. “The announcement also hints at some unexpected new features: new Star Pokémon and even more Owner Pokémon.”
Furthermore, the teaser visual suggests reissues of highly coveted cards, such as Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex (Destined Rivals) or Pikachu ex (Surging Sparks). Enough to revive the interest of seasoned collectors, like the excitement around certain recent cards.
A market already in turmoil even before the release
The first leaks from Japan leave no doubt about the enthusiasm. “The Mega Gengar ex card from the Japanese expansion Mega Dream ex has already sold for hundreds of dollars on eBay, weeks before its official release.”
With such tension in the market, several American brands such as Walmart have already established purchasing limits per customer, anticipating strong demand. Ascendant Heroes therefore promises to be a major commercial event at the start of 2026, to be followed very closely by all Pokémon TCG fans.
