Pokémon Go: how to get Dipplin and Hydrapple before the end of the Harvest Festival

The Harvest Festival is in full swing in Pokémon Go until October 16. And this year, the event marks the arrival of two new Plant/Dragon type evolutions: Dipplin and Hydrapple. But be careful, to add them to your collection, you will need to be patient… and with lots of candy.

Inspired by the DLC “The Turquoise Mask” from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, these new Applin forms are not unlocked like the others. Here’s everything you need to know to get them before the event ends.

To get Dipplin, you need Apple Syrup

The simplest method to obtain Dipplin is to evolve an Applin. But it is not enough to click on “Evolve”: two conditions are required.

  • 200 Applin candies
  • 20 Apples Syrup

Syrup Apples are items introduced specifically for this event. They can be found in PokéStops, but only if you use a Mossy Lure Module. Once the lure is activated, apples will appear on the map from time to time. Be careful though: clicking on an apple can sometimes trigger an encounter with a wild Pokémon instead of adding the item to your inventory. So you have to be patient.

Once the 20 Syrup Apples have been collected and the 200 candies have been gathered, you will be able to evolve Applin into Dipplin directly from the Pokémon’s file.

To obtain Hydrapple, you will need dragons… and 400 candies

The next evolution, Hydrapple, requires even more effort. To unlock it, you must:

  • Collect 400 Applin candies
  • Using Dipplin as a companion
  • Catch 7 Dragon-type Pokémon with Dipplin as an active buddy

No Apple Syrup is necessary for this evolution, but the volume of candies to gather remains significant. To optimize your captures, consider using a Nanana Berry before each encounter with Applin. You can also convert your Rare Candies into Applin candies to speed up the process.

No shiny version… for the moment

Unfortunately, neither Dipplin nor Hydrapple can be obtained in chromatic versions at this time. Applin shiny is not yet available in Pokémon Go. You will have to wait for a future event to hope to unlock this alternative version.

The Harvest Festival event ends on October 16. If you want to add Dipplin and Hydrapple to your Pokédex, you better start farming now.
