Nintendo Switch 2: falling prices in France, promotional packs, offers not to be missed

Nintendo’s new console is not even four months old and its price is already falling. But this unexpected reduction only concerns… France. And for once, it’s not a fleeting promotion. The reduction is described as definitive by the brands concerned. Enough to delight hesitant players, but also to sow confusion: why only with us? And above all, where to buy it at the best price?

Here is everything you need to know about the new prices for the Nintendo Switch 2, the brands that are playing the game, and the most interesting packs available now.

A price drop of €30 to €50… only in France

The first signal came from E.Leclerc. At the beginning of October, the French channel lowered the price of the Switch 2 from €440 to €410, without an official announcement or “special offer” type operation. Other brands quickly followed: Auchan, Super U, and even Amazon to a lesser extent.

And this drop is not limited to the console alone. Packs including Mario Kart World or Pokémon Legends: ZA also show a discount of €30, going from €500 to €470 on average.

However, one detail is noteworthy: this reduction does not seem to be applied elsewhere in Europe. In Germany, Spain or the United Kingdom, prices remain unchanged. In France, the drop is described as “general and definitive”, even if it varies slightly depending on the resellers.

Why this drop, and why only in France?

Contrary to what some players fear, this reduction is not linked to poor sales. In 14 weeks, the Switch 2 has sold more than 2 million copies worldwide, a higher start than that of the Wii or the PS4 over the same period.

The real reason would be logistical and commercial. The major French brands would have ordered large volumeswhich allows them to offer more aggressive prices while remaining profitable. In practice, they resell below the recommended price to capture market share from the end of year holidays.

Another factor: the sensitivity of French consumers to price. The launch of the Switch 2 was criticized for its high price (€440), especially compared to a PS5 regularly found around €399. This pressure may have motivated distributors to quickly adjust their offering.

Where to buy the Switch 2 at the best price?

Here are the brands currently offering the Switch 2 and its packs at a reduced price:

  • E.Leclerc : €410 for the console alone, €470 for the packs (in store and online)
  • Auchan : identical prices, sometimes with additional loyalty discounts
  • Super U : same price level, with some even lower local offers
  • Amazon : variation depending on the seller, sometimes €419 for the bare console
  • Fnac and Cdiscount : not yet aligned everywhere, but adjustments are expected

Good to know: in certain physical stores, basket offers or additional discounts are possible. Remember to check the weekly promo catalogs.

Should we give in now or wait some more?

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to take the plunge, now might be the right time. Prices have fallen sustainably, stocks are available, and some packs include very recent games like Mario Kart World (sold alone for €79.99 electronically). The pack therefore costs €470, which means that the game is offered for only €60 in practice.

If you still find the console too expensive, nothing excludes other reductions for Black Friday or after Christmas. But in the current state of the market, France is the only European country where the Switch 2 is already cheaper than its launch price.
