Nintendo will now focus on producing Switch 2 games, and promises even more films

The transition is underway

Nintendo has often said that it won’t put the first Switch aside for a while, but the success of the Switch 2 will perhaps speed up the transition. In the document published by the manufacturer, we can read that from now on, the development of new games will be focused on the Switch 2 above all.

Which does not mean that Nintendo will bury the first Switch, if only because third-party publishers will continue to release games on it, but for its part, first-party games will now revolve around this new console. Besides, Nintendo specifies that it will continue to produce Switches as long as demand is present.

Nintendo also specifies that there is now 400 million Nintendo accounts created, and 34 million Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. It is also interesting to note that 84% of Switch 2 owners already owned a Switch. After all, the latter reached a very large audience with 154 million consoles sold, which makes this percentage obvious. Nintendo will have at least managed to attract 16% of new customers, which is no small thing.

New films in preparation

And perhaps the key to attracting this new clientele is to seek them out via another medium. We know, the success of the film Super Mario Bros. has given wings to Nintendo, which is already preparing the release of the second film and a potential spin-off on Donkey Kong, in addition to its live-action film The Legend of Zelda.

And this will accelerate according to Nintendo, which shows in its document that other feature films still unknown to the public are in preparationand are planned to be released at a sustained rate. The manufacturer specifies that as with the Mario film, it remains very involved in each project and will not just sell the license, hence the creation of its subsidiary Nintendo Stars which takes care of these films.
