Next-gen PSSR upscaling is coming soon to PS5 Pro, and Resident Evil Requiem will be the first to benefit

An update is expected in March

This new update to the PS5 Pro aims to improve PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) technology, already present on the machine. With the help of AMD and its FSR 4, the new version of PSSR promises to improve the sharpness of images thanks to an AI which will comb through each pixel of the screen, while maintaining a good frame rate per second. And the first game that will benefit from this version of the technology is the very fresh one Resident Evil Requiemas indicated by Masaru Ijuin, Senior Manager at Capcom on the PlayStation Blog:

The new version of PSSR has given us more possibilities for expression, thanks to the appropriate treatment of these details and particularities linked to textures, which are traditionally more difficult to treat in upscaling due to their complexity. We hope you can experience this unprecedented level of horror and visual fidelity, as well as the new gaming sensations it provides. »

Other games will follow suit in the coming days since a global update for the PS5 Pro will be offered during the month of March:

We look forward to revealing more in March, when several existing games upgrade to the enhanced PSSR. A system software update will also be rolled out at that time. By selecting the PSSR image quality improvement option in the PS5 Pro settings, you will be able to enjoy the new PSSR in all PS5 Pro games that currently support this technology! After the new system update launches next month, you may notice that the graphics in some games are noticeably sharper. »

The PS5 Pro will therefore finally be able to move to a higher level while Sony must already look towards the future, towards its PS6. More information will be shared this March regarding the PSSR of the PS5 Pro.
