GTA 6: the size of the map would be 2.7 times larger than that of GTA 5, a real madness

While Rockstar has not yet published an official GTA 6 map, the community has been working for months to reconstruct a hypothetical version of the future open world. Based on footage from the trailer and gameplay leaks, these cards claim to represent Leonida, the fictional equivalent of Florida in the game.

Some estimates indicate an area 2.4 to 2.7 times larger than that of GTA V. A figure which, without being confirmed, arouses both fascination and skepticism. On Reddit, a user named That_one_Man123 sums up this uneasiness: “Vice City in GTA 6 would be comparable in size to that of the entire GTA V map.” This simple post was enough to reignite the debate. Should we believe it, or are we faced with extrapolations without any real basis?

A technical ambition that fuels doubts

Rockstar has always known how to surprise with dense and lively open worlds. But pushing the limits to triple the size of GTA 5 seems, for some, not technically credible. Because more than a question of surface, it’s good the level of graphic detail of GTA 6 which worries.

The game promises to be visually sumptuous, but this involves heavy resources for current machines. A gigantic map would pose new optimization, loading, and gameplay challenges.

“The stunning level of visual detail in GTA 6 will already put the hardware to the test,” ScreenRant analyzes. This is also one of the reasons given to explain the multiple developmental delays.

Rockstar precedents: from surprise to caution

In the past, the community has sometimes been right. The GTA 5 map had been reconstructed to 80% before the game’s release, thanks to photos, videos and beta leaks. But that doesn’t mean history will repeat itself.

Rockstar perfectly masters communication around its projects. Each official element is distilled drop by drop. Studios let fans speculate… while keeping control of major revelations.

“Even if the size of the card helps justify its price, estimated at $100, it raises several questions,” the article points out. Between marketing expectations and technical reality, doubt persists.

Verdict: from hype to patient waiting

Today, no one can say with certainty what the real size of the GTA 6 map will be. The maps circulating on Reddit or Twitter offer interesting projections, but nothing verifiable without official data.

Even if Rockstar has accustomed players to vast worlds, some recall that GTA 5 had many empty areas that were little exploited. A trap that GTA 6 could avoid, even with a more compact but denser map. In the meantime, the only certainty remains the estimated release date: November 19, 2026. Unless further postponement.
