Since its tumultuous release in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 experienced a spectacular redemption. Over time, CD Projekt RED’s updates have gradually transformed the game into a much smoother experience, especially on PC. But some details remained imperfect… until a modder took matters into their own hands.
A new patch called 3D World Map Fixedavailable for free on Nexus Mods, tackles a problem as simple as it is annoying: inconsistencies between the Night City map and the real world of the game. The mod was designed by a user known under the pseudonym malgalad. “The mod attempts to perfectly match the game map to the physical locations in the game.”
A map finally faithful to the reality of the game
In Cyberpunk 2077, it was not uncommon to point to a location on the map only to realize, once there, that the building did not exist. Conversely, some very real places simply did not appear on the map. “During my first playthrough, there were several times when I went to a specific location on the map, only to discover that the building indicated did not exist.” These inconsistencies hindered exploration, especially in a universe as dense and vertical as that of Night City. Thanks to malgalad’s mod, this frustration is now a thing of the past.
A titanic job carried out by a single modder
What 3D World Map Fixed offers is not just a cosmetic correction. The mod adds 11 new locations à la carte and modify dozens of others to make them conform to the real topography of the game. An impressive painstaking job, which could have justified an official update. “They added 11 locations to the map and tweaked dozens more to match perfectly what’s found in the open world.”
Malgalad accomplished what many would have deemed impossible alone. And this is perhaps only the beginning: compatibility with other major mods is already hoped for in a future update.
An essential mod for total immersion
If you are replaying Cyberpunk 2077 in 2026, this mod promises to be essential. It greatly improves world coherence and enhances immersion, especially for players who enjoy exploring every corner of Night City. “Now that I know it exists, I’m not sure I’ll play the game again without it.”
The mod is already available for free on Nexus Mods. Further proof that the PC community remains one of the most creative engines of modern video games.
