It is perhaps the most exposed secret in the video game industry. For several months, Assassin’s Creed fans have been whispering about the return of a cult episode: Black Flag. And this time, the clues are more concrete. If Ubisoft remains silent, the registration of a very suspicious domain name seems to betray a very real project.
According to the specialist YouTube account The Hidden One, a domain titled assassinscreedblackflagresynced.com was registered on December 9, 2025. “The domain, assassinscreedblackflagresynced.com, was created on December 9, 2025 with French registrar Gandi SAS, which Ubisoft uses ‘frequently’ for various franchises, according to The Hidden One.” Even if the name of the holder remains hidden, the timing of this approach is not trivial.
Black Flag Resynced: an increasingly credible name
This domain name seems to confirm the title that rumors have been mentioning for several weeks: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. It should have been revealed during December’s Game Awards, but the event took place without an announcement from Ubisoft. “This remake, likely titled Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, was expected to be revealed at The Game Awards in December, but no announcement has been made.”
This type of approach — discreet domain registration — is often used to secure future communication. And the fact that another Ubisoft remake, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, saw its own site updated at the same time reinforces the hypothesis of a concerted announcement schedule.
Two events to watch closely in January
Two major meetings could serve as a framework for the official reveal of Black Flag Resynced. The first is the New Game+ Showcase scheduled for January 8, a livestream that promises to showcase 45 titles. Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed its presence, but this kind of cross-platform showcase is ideal ground for a surprise announcement.
Another possibility: Xbox Developer Direct. “Another event to watch closely is the Xbox Developer Direct, which has been held every January since 2023.” Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed anything here either, but the communication window seems perfectly timed with the peak of marketing activity at the start of the year.
Ubisoft maintains the vagueness, fans scrutinize the smallest detail
Despite the absence of a formal announcement, the theory machine is running. Edward Kenway’s latest appearance in a modernized remake ignites Reddit communities and YouTube channels. Ubisoft’s silencefar from calming speculation, only fuels suspense.
This remake, which would mix piracy, open world exploration and graphic modernization, could well become one of the biggest releases of the year. While waiting for the officialization, one thing is certain: all eyes are now on January.
