Cyberpunk 2077 fans were still hoping to see new downloadable content for the game. Despite the age of the title and the success of its previous expansion, some rumors raised the possibility of additional DLC. CD Projekt has, however, decided to put an end to the speculation. The Polish studio has publicly confirmed that no new content is currently planned for the game.
CD Projekt confirms the absence of new DLC for Cyberpunk 2077
The studio’s statement came after a player questioned the official Cyberpunk 2077 social media account about possible secret content. CD Projekt’s response was straightforward: “We have no plans for additional downloadable content or expansions. If the situation changes, we will keep you informed!” This firm response seems to confirm that development of additional content for Cyberpunk 2077 is now complete. For fans who were still hoping to explore new areas of Night City, this statement puts an end to the latest speculation.
Some fans were still hoping for new content
Despite the years that have passed since the game’s release, the community remains very active and continues to demand additional content. Several players expressed their disappointment after the studio’s statement. Some reacted directly on social networks, notably with messages like: “Are you really going to make us wait more than 5 years for new Cyberpunk content?” Another fan also wrote: “Come on, just a little extension please!” These reactions show that the cyberpunk universe imagined by CD Projekt still retains a very engaged player base.
Cyberpunk 2 should not arrive for several years
The lack of new DLC means fans will likely have to wait for the next game in the series to return to this universe. The Cyberpunk 2 project is well in development, but its release still seems far away. According to some statements from the studio, this new game will arrive after The Witcher 4, which is not expected to be released until 2027 at the earliest. CD Projekt co-CEO Michał Nowakowski even hinted that Cyberpunk 2 might not see the light of day until 2030.
Rumors point to new content for The Witcher 3
While Cyberpunk 2077 appears to have completed its content cycle, discussions are now turning to another game from the studio. Rumors indeed suggest the possibility of a secret DLC for The Witcher 3. According to certain information relayed recently, this content could introduce a new area inspired by the Dune universe. If this information is confirmed, this DLC could be released later this year and offer a new adventure in the world of Geralt of Rivia.
