Battlefield 6 is preparing 9 new game modes, some of which are coming soon

Launched with a first season that had already expanded its content, Battlefield 6 is preparing to seriously strengthen its multiplayer offering. No less than nine new game modes are in development, according to data analyzed in the game files. Two of them have already been officially confirmed by the publisher, the others appear as “prototypes”, at various stages of design.

The names found in the files indicate a mix of revisited classic concepts and bold experiments. Enough to fuel the interest of fans while waiting for the rest of the roadmap.

Some confirmed modes, others still secret

According to Insider Gaming, two game modes are now confirmed in Battlefield 6 : Sabotage And Strikepoint. These two new features had already been mentioned in previous leaks, but they now appear in the game files under their final name, which confirms their upcoming integration into the official playlists.

Four other modes were already mentioned: Raid, Payload, Squad Shootout And Tank Hunt. Along with the two previous ones, they make up the first six projects identified over the last month.

But since the post-Season 1 update, five new names have surfacedthis time placed in a category labeled “Prototypes”:

  • Gunmaster
  • Convoy
  • Touchdown
  • Tug of War
  • Fantastic Four

The code name Gunmaster is the most explicit: everything suggests that it will be a mode of type Gun Gamewhere each elimination causes you to change weapons, until reaching a final objective with a bladed weapon. This format, already tested in other shooting games, “generally requires 20 different weapons and a final elimination with a knife to win”.

For Tug of Wardataminers suggest a system close to Breakthrougha mode in which each captured point pushes back the enemy lines, until a possible reversal of the situation if the opponent recovers the previous zones.

As for the other three titles, they remain mysterious. Their internal call chains are present in the files, but without precise description or deployment date. At this stage, there is no indication yet whether they will reach the final stage.

An ambitious vision for post-launch

With this strategy, Electronic Arts shows its intention to keep Battlefield 6 alive in the long term. The project still has the internal code name Glacieraccording to the files. This multiplayer expansion comes as the community continues to stabilize after a lackluster launch.

The developers are clearly focusing on the diversity of experiences, by combining competitive, cooperative and objective modes. The addition of so many formats hints at a rich future for the game, where regular updates will become the main driver of player retention.

The five new prototypes, even if they are not guaranteed to arrive in final version, reflect a philosophy of experimentation that we had seen little in the last parts of the franchise.

At this time, no specific timetable has been revealed regarding the arrival of these online modes. The most impatient players can follow the discussions and analyzes on the Insider Gaming Discord server, where the community is already trying to imagine what the still obscure names hide.
