Peter Molyneux says he was very moved when watching the trailer for the next Fable

But he still hopes for a slightly less smooth appearance

While it might have been bitter to see Fable continue elsewhere than at Lionhead, Peter Molyneux is a priori especially relieved to see the license exist today. He says he had tears in his eyes when he discovered the gamemainly because this world can still tell new stories:

Watching the Fable trailer brought tears to my eyes. I know I risk getting lynched for that, but I’m someone who cries easily, and I was incredibly moved, and the reason for that is that I say to myself: damn, what we created is going to live, it’s going to continue. This world that we loved creating, and that others loved, is alive. And for me, the saddest thing would be to see it disappear, that’s one of the reasons why I’m returning to God-games. So much for the general emotion. I thought it was very smart of them to retell Fable 1 rather than having the burden of continuing the story. I loved seeing some of the references. It was super clever to see the kid’s family turned to stone. Really very clever. That’s it for the positives. »

And for the negative points? Just to prove that he is not being tongue-in-cheek, Molyneux mentions the detail that he liked less in the recent presentations :

If I had to be critical, which I think you expect from me, I would say that there was a bit of a sanitized side to it. But hey, they have months and months to develop this character and almost this dirtiness that you are looking for in this universe. I never imagined Fable as a clean world, with sharp and well-defined angles. It’s more chaotic. It’s closer to what old England probably was: non-rectilinear lines, more wrinkled shapes, oversized buckled belts, disproportionate boots and hands, because this is an integral part of the character of the characters. That’s what I probably would have asked, even though it’s probably ridiculous. »

Nothing that will prevent him from playing the game when it comes out, which should reassure Playground Games who seem to have managed to touch the heart of the one who Fable owes a lot.

Fable will be released in fall 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
