Battlefield 6 goes free for a few days with Season 2 maps and modes

Players curious about Battlefield 6 will soon have a new opportunity to get a feel for the game. Electronic Arts has announced the launch of a new free trial that will allow you to explore some of the multiplayer for a limited time.

This trial period will run from March 17 to March 24 and will provide access to several maps and game modes. It will also allow you to try some of the content planned for season 2 of the game, called Twilight.

A free trial to discover Battlefield 6 for one week

The Battlefield 6 free trial will begin on March 17 at 5 a.m. PT and end on March 24 at the same time. During this period, players will be able to download a free version of the multiplayer experience called REDSEC. This version allows you to test several emblematic maps and modes from the series. The goal is to allow players hesitant to purchase the full game to discover its gameplay and large-scale clashes. Released in October 2025, Battlefield 6 is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The Hagental map and Dark Night mode at the heart of the test

The trial period coincides with the launch of Season 2 of the game, allowing players to experience new content. Among the new features is the Hagental Base map. This map will be available in a nighttime version called Black Night, a special mode in which the environment is plunged into darkness.

In this playlist, players will have to compete using different equipment adapted to the night, including night vision goggles or incendiary grenades. Several multiplayer modes will be playable on this map, including Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch and Domination.

Several multiplayer playlists available

In addition to the playlist focused on Season 2, the free trial will also allow you to discover other content already available in Battlefield 6. The Total War playlist will offer the classic Battlefield experience with several modes well known to players. Among them are Conquest, Breakthrough and Escalation, playable on different maps in the game.

A second playlist called Casual Breakthrough will serve as an introduction for new players. It mixes games against other players and bots to make it easier to get started. Available maps will include Eastwood, Mirak Valley, Contaminated, and Hagental Base.

A new step to relaunch Battlefield 6

This free trial comes at an important time for Battlefield 6. After its launch in October 2025, the game experienced mixed reception from part of the community. Season 2 therefore represents a new step for Battlefield Studios, which seeks to convince more players to return to the game. Other updates are already planned, including the Hunter/Prey update expected for April 14. The free trial will allow players to test these new features and find out if the changes made to Battlefield 6 meet their expectations.
