Atlus takes the industry dynamic on its head and increases the salaries of beginners as well as those already established

Persona grata

Studio behind the renowned Shin Megami Tensei and Persona sagas, and having recently produced the very good Metaphor: ReFantazioAtlus is doing very well. To the point that the Japanese company wanted to review its remuneration system, according to its comments reported by Automaton.

From next April, the arrivals of young graduates to entry-level positions will see their salary increase from 300,000 yen (1,642 euros) to 330,000 yen (1,806 euros). The increase also concerns permanent and contractual annual salaries, with an increase of 15%. Added to this is a reduction in fixed overtime hours in contracts from 30 to 20 hours per month.

According to Atlus, this initiative was taken to “foster creativity and improve the productivity of each employee” in order to deliver ever more inspired experiences to the public. The company adds:

Despite the fluctuation of external factors such as rising prices, we will aim to support our employees to lead a stable life, and provide them with a working environment where they feel more secure.

Such a decision also follows in the footsteps of SEGA which, in November 2025, also carried out an increase in the contract of young graduates (to the same amount as Atlus) and employees already under contract (+10%). This Japanese exception is in addition to that already undertaken by Capcom two years ago, although it must be remembered that Japan remains a land where working conditions are generally very difficult to cope with. Nevertheless, initiatives going in the right direction must be welcomed.
