Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers free content to everyone, to collect as quickly as possible

The universe of feudal Japan in Assassin’s Creed Shadows continues to seduce, and Ubisoft knows it. To maintain the enthusiasm without requiring effort, the publisher is offering a new wave of free rewards, even to players who have not yet launched the game. A simple, effective strategy, which is based on a tool that has become essential: Twitch.

Accessible to all until December 16, 2025, this operation targets fans of the saga as well as curious people who are still hesitant. Here’s everything you need to know to collect the gifts… without opening the wallet.

Ubisoft increases attention to compensate for the cancellation of a DLC

Having just celebrated the commercial success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft has made an unexpected decision: canceling the second narrative expansion planned for 2026. A surprising choice, especially since sales and player feedback are generally positive.

But rather than abandoning monitoring of the game, the publisher prefers to focus on another type of commitment: regular free updates and event operations to strengthen player loyalty. By this logic, Twitch drops are just the beginning. They embody a clear desire: to reward all player profiles, whether they have already purchased the game or not.

Twitch Drops: a well-established mechanic that proves its worth

This isn’t the first time Ubisoft has used Twitch to distribute content, but the approach here stands out. Unlike other campaigns that are often limited to competitive or multiplayer games, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a single-player game, which makes it much more inclusive.

The mechanics remain the same: by watching a referenced streamer (with the mention “Drops activated”), the player automatically unlocks in-game objects. No need to remain active: a few tens of minutes of broadcasting are enough, even in the background. And the content offered is far from symbolic: one of the star objects is the Crowd Pleaser club, an exclusive weapon that will not be available otherwise.

No need to own the game to enjoy it

This is perhaps the smartest detail of this campaign: the rewards do not require having launched or even purchased the game. Simply link your Twitch and Ubisoft accounts, follow a stream for at least 20 minutes, then collect the items from the Twitch inventory page.

This content will then remain stored on the player’s Ubisoft account and will automatically unlock when they log in to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, even weeks or months later.

Summary of steps to follow:

  • Link your Ubisoft and Twitch accounts.
  • Watch a stream of Assassin’s Creed Shadows with “Drops enabled”.
  • Let the stream run for 20 minutes minimum.
  • Collect your rewards from the Inventory tab on Twitch.
  • Items will be available automatically during your next gaming session.

A loyalty strategy that goes beyond simple promotion

By offering content without the condition of immediate purchase, Ubisoft is not simply seeking to promote its game. The publisher is investing in a relationship of trust with its community, by valuing the attention, curiosity or even hesitation of players.

In a context where many publishers are increasing paid content or microtransactions, this approach stands out. It is based on a logic of visibility, of course, but above all on a model of reciprocity: we offer you something, it’s up to you to decide if it makes you want to play.
