A new wind is blowing through the crime game. The Liquid Swords studio, founded by Christofer Sundberg, former creative of Just Cause, has just revealed Samson: A Tyndalston Storya title with a brutal and realistic tone that intends to shake up the genre from the start of 2026. Announced during the PC Gaming Show, the game focuses on an atypical positioning: narrative, visceral, and sold at only $24.99.
In a video game world where GTA 6 promises to be a blockbuster, Samson plays the opposite card. It focuses on immersion, consequences and a city that reacts to your every move. “It’s a raw, concrete story, with systems that resist every moment,” says Christofer Sundberg, founder of Liquid Swords.
A raw story in a world where every choice counts
The game immerses us in the dark streets of Tydalston, a town where violence, debt and despair are everyday life. We play Samson, a cornered man, trapped by growing debts and a ruthless society. Each action in the game will have direct consequences, both on the character and on the city itself.
“Samson has no room for error. If you do something that makes your situation worse, you will have to face the consequences,” the press release said. The central idea: create a living, hostile and credible world where strategy is essential to survival.
A realistic and brutal approach to action
Inspired by the experience of the developers on Mad Max, Max Payne or Payday, the gameplay of Samson emphasizes hand-to-hand combat, intense chases and interactions with the urban environment. The revealed trailer shows rough, no-nonsense clashes reminiscent of the dirty, tense fights of the best thrillers.
One of the studio’s bold choices is to have obscured, for the moment, the firearms, leaving room for more physical, more visceral violence. It’s a return to a more down-to-earth style of play, far from the spectacular explosions of Michael Bay.
A slashed price and a promise of no-frills play
In a context where the smallest AAA is close to 80 euros, Samson will be priced at just $24.99. A deliberately low price, assumed by its creator: “Samson is our response to this reality: a targeted project, designed with intention and without superfluities”.
This approach goes against the grain of the current industry, and could appeal to a large base of players looking for a strong, short, but striking game. The title will be released on PC, via Steam and the Epic Games Store, without an exact date at the moment.
