Nintendo took advantage of the calm of early December to make an announcement that will delight fans of retro games. Two flagship titles of the Nintendo 64, Rayman 2: The Great Escape And Tonic Troublewill join the Nintendo Switch Online + Additional Pack catalog from December 17, 2025.
These two games will be playable via the “Classics” application on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. A nice end-of-year gift for subscribers.
Rayman 2: a 3D gem from the 90s
Released in 1999, Rayman 2 remains one of the most popular platform games of its generation. The player plays Rayman, tasked with freeing his friends captured by mechanical pirates in the Glades of Dreams. “Nintendo has just revealed that the Mario spin-off, Wario World, will land on the Nintendo Switch Online service… immediately,” mentions the previous announcement, and this new addition confirms that the firm is banking on nostalgia.
In this version, Rayman embarks on a fluid, colorful and inventive adventure, with a magical atmosphere and still very modern gameplay. A title that marked an era… and which fully deserves a new life on Switch.
Tonic Trouble: the strange but endearing cousin
Also developed by Ubisoft and released the same year, Tonic Trouble is less known than Rayman but just as original. We follow Eda clumsy hero thrust into an absurd mission to save the world.
“Experience the thrills of a wild ski descent, an out-of-control robotic suitcase, burnt toast and ancient mummies… all while attempting to accomplish a seemingly impossible mission,” the official description reads. That’s the whole tone of the game: funny, offbeat, a bit chaotic, but frankly entertaining.
