Pokémon Legends ZA: complete ranking of the new Mega Evolutions, from worst to best

Since its release, the Mega-Dimension DLC for Pokémon Legends: ZA has continued to fuel debate in the community. The Pokémon Company hit hard by introducing no less than 19 new Mega-Evolutions, bringing a breath of fresh air to a mechanic long put aside in recent opuses.

If the promise of graphic renewal is kept, not all designs are unanimous. Certain aesthetic choices raise questions, while others arouse immediate support from fans. Here is our ranking of the new DLC Mega Evolutions, from the most criticized design to the most notable.

Designs that strongly divide players

At the bottom of the ranking, Mega Darkrai surprises with a look considered grotesque, bordering on frightening, with a disproportionate abdomen. Mega Raichu Same mixed observation for Mega Golisopod, whose additional arms are more reminiscent of a hazardous mutation than a formidable evolution.

In the soft underbelly, Pokémon like Mega Heatran or Mega Glimmora present designs consistent with their lore, but without real risk taking. Others, like Mega Crabominable or Mega Magearna, rely on an exaggeration of the traits already present, with a sometimes confusing effect.

Unexpected successes and appreciated winks

As we move up the rankings, some surprises take their toll. Mega Chimecho seduces with its poetic chime appearance and the addition of a well-found Steel type. Mega Golurk amplifies his appearance as a spectral golem with ghostly purple wings, a visual idea welcomed by fans.

Méga Zeraora makes a bold chromatic shift: yellow gives way to blue and black, creating a fusion effect between Zeraora and Luxray. The result is both original and respectful of the basic design. As for Mega Lucario Z, it surprises with an almost pop look, but remains faithful to the fighting spirit of the iconic Pokémon.

The absolute favorites of the DLC

In the top places, three Mega Evolutions clearly stand out. Méga Miaouss skillfully combines its male and female forms for a more slender look, with an emo look that hits the mark. Mega Staraptor adopts more pronounced raptor attributes, reinforcing its status as an aerial predator with panache.

But it’s Méga Absol Z that steals the show. First evolution revealed in the DLC, it imposes a unique aura mixing shadow and elegance. The addition of the Specter type is part of an obvious logic, and his resolutely emo style completes the conquest of early fans and newcomers alike.
