An announcement for Larian’s Divinity license?
The least we can say is that the big winner from this marketing operation is Geoff Keighley. Indeed, thanks to this mysterious statue, the whole web is talking about the Game Awards which will reward the best games of the year in a ceremony interspersed with announcements and Muppets (not forgetting the ads).
When the statue appeared on social networks, certain names stood out very quickly, which led to official reactions. Cory Barlog notably denied any involvement of Santa Monica Studio by ruling out the idea of a new God of War. For his part, Jason Schreier claimed to know the true identity of the project without revealing it, while denying the hypothesis of a DLC linked to Diablo 4. Other speculations arose subsequently as for the next Lord of the Fallenbut all have been denied.
It was ultimately the MP1st site which seemed to have resolved the situation. By searching European databases, the media spotted three new trademark filings filed today, all linked to the Divinity series from Larian Studios.

We find there:
- a new Divinity logo (with a revisited font)
- a symbol reminiscent of a spider’s web
- a circular emblem with long spikes, very similar to a pattern seen on the Mojave statue.
For many, the similarity is too striking to be a coincidence. And for us too, everything suggests that the statue could tease the return of the Divinity franchise.
No Divinity Original Sin 3 but Divinity nonetheless
Larian has released five Divinity games since 2002, including the two famous Original Sin. The latest opus, Divinity: Original Sin 2dates back to 2017 and remains considered one of the best modern CRPGs. The studio then focused all its energy on Baldur’s Gate 3released in 2023, crowned with widely deserved critical and commercial success and six trophies at the Game Awards, including the prestigious “game of the year”.
After the game’s release, director Swen Vincke announced that Larian was now moving away from the Dungeons & Dragons universe to find more creative freedom. The studio then revealed that it was working on two new internal projects. One of them could therefore be linked to the Divinity license. However, it is almost certain that it will not be Divinity Original Sin 3. Larian’s “director of publishing” has in fact tempered the enthusiasm :
There aren’t currently any plans for a new Divinity Original Sin 3 game but once we are ready to show what we’ve been working on we will 🙏

This simply means that the license will return in the form of another project: a remake, a remaster or even a spin-off. Definitive answer on December 11 at 3 a.m. during the Game Awards.
