Last step before closing?
Splash Damage is now on the brink of collapse. The announcement comes from the studio itself via LinkedIn, where we learn that a wave of layoffs is being prepared (after mandatory team consultation linked to British laws). Everyone in the studio would be in danger here :
“ This was a difficult decision to make, but we believe it is necessary for Splash Damage to remain agile and adaptable in a particularly challenging market. We know that this type of change is challenging and we will do everything possible to support our employees with honesty and kindness throughout this process. We are committed to exploring all avenues to retain our talents and to ensuring that those affected benefit from concrete support. »
As usual with this kind of announcement, it’s difficult to believe in good faith that the studio will be able to recover after this, even if we still don’t know the extent of this wave of layoffs on the scale of Splash Damage. Between project cancellations and now this, the future doesn’t seem very glorious for a studio that was preparing to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
