Elden Ring Nightreign: Forsaken Hollows DLC releases in December with two heroes and a new zone

FromSoftware is not done with its tortured universe. The Japanese publisher has just lifted the veil on The Forsaken Hollowsthe first expansion of the roguelike spin-off Elden Ring Nightreignlaunched last May. Expected for December 4, 2025, this major update will take players into a new sinister zone, with two new playable characters and formidable enemies. The expansion will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, priced at €14.99.

The announcement came during the last State of Play special for Japan, confirming rumors already fueled by Kadokawa Corporation, parent company of FromSoftware. In a financial report, it indicated that the DLC would see the light of day before March 2026. The promise is kept: The Forsaken Hollows arrives at the end of the year and will be included free of charge with the physical Collector and Deluxe editions already sold. Owners of these versions should, however, be careful not to purchase the same content twice. As FromSoftware states, players should “be careful not to make duplicate purchases.”

Complementary heroes and a nightmare-like biome

Two new playable heroes will appear in this expansion: the Scholar and the Gravedigger. The first, focused on the arcane, will be able to “obtain considerable advantages thanks to the observation of the battlefield”, while the second, more brutal, will have the capacity “to send its enemies into the beyond with formidable efficiency”. A duo that promises great complementarity in combat approaches, between tactical subtlety and mystical power.

On the exploration side, players will enter a brand new area called the Moving Earth. This underground environment, located under the Limveld, promises to be unstable and crystalline. Dark and confusing, this new biome will also host an even more formidable bestiary. The famous Abominations will lurk there, in addition to two new bosses, one of which could well be a figure well known to fans of Dark Souls : the Knight Artorias, seen in the trailer.

A highly anticipated DLC after months of updates

Since its release, Elden Ring Nightreign has enjoyed constant support from FromSoftware. The game saw increased difficulty, boss changes, new duo expeditions, and a series of regular updates. The arrival of The Forsaken Hollows marks a new stage in this careful monitoring. However, it remains to be seen whether the publisher will continue this momentum once the content is deployed.

For players already won over by Nightreignthis extension promises to be an essential addition to the gaming experience. With a launch scheduled for December 4, the appointment is made to return to face the shadows of Forgotten Valleys.
