After a wave of hate: New “One Punch Man” director withdraws


Shinpei Nagai, who has been working as the director of “One Punch Man” since the third season, has completely withdrawn from social media after an emotional statement. We summarize.

Director in criticism

It is well known that production of the third season of One Punch Man is anything but smooth. This understandably led to great dissatisfaction among fans of the popular anime franchise – and as is often the case in such cases, there was an eager search for someone to blame.

This was quickly found in the person of Shinpei Nagai, after all, the inexperienced director was already under criticism months before the broadcast, which was only further fueled by his attempts to dampen expectations.

After his appeal to viewers at the time probably had no effect, he finally deleted his account on X (formerly Twitter). Before that, however, he released a moving statement in which he complained about the ongoing criticism and frequent provocations among social media posts about the anime.

Despicable behavior

The constant comments would not only take a toll on his mental health, but also affect the work of the team and the original author. He referred to this behavior as “despicable and unforgivable”.

Before deleting his He emphasized that he had pursued the project with sincere commitment and that he had enjoyed working on it immensely.
