Ghost of Yōtei rolls out a mysterious update on PS5, with big surprises

Launched on October 2, 2025, Ghost of Yōtei continues its rise as one of the great games of the end of the year. Successor to Ghost of Tsushima, this new opus signed Sucker Punch Productions was praised for its cinematic atmosphere and poignant storytelling. As Richard Lee Breslin wrote in his review: “Ghost of Yōtei is pure cinematic genius, and Sucker Punch Productions deserves to be congratulated once again for knocking it out of the park and, in some ways, surpassing its predecessor.”

But despite this praise, the game is not without its flaws. This is why the patch 1.010available for free now on PlayStation 5was eagerly awaited by the players.

Invisible fixes…for now

This update does not bring any new content, but aims to fix persistent bugs since launch. Collision issues, controller issues, blocked quests, environment bugs… the list goes on.

At present, Sucker Punch has yet to release official patch notesleaving the community in the dark. These are the players’ feedback, notably compiled by MP1stwhich make it possible to identify potential corrections… and anomalies still present.

Among the problems reported:

  • still frequent crashes
  • missions that block progression (“The Last Brother”, “Kusarigama’s Regret”)
  • bugs related to movement or the environment
  • incorrect display of oxygen in water
  • key items or shrines that do not unlock

A solid base, but a finish to be refined

Despite these dysfunctions, Ghost of Yōtei remains an ambitious and acclaimed title, with an artistic direction and gameplay that appeals. The character ofAtsua vengeful onna-musha, offers an experience that is as immersive as it is striking.

It remains to be seen if Sucker Punch will manage to keep pace with technical expectations. For now, patch 1.010 is a first answer, but a more complete update with targeted fixes remains hoped for by players in the days to come.
