ZDF is showing “Tunnel to Summer” as a German TV premiere


An entry in the ZDF program schedule made it known that the free TV station would be broadcasting the drama film “Tunnel to Summer” (Japanese: “Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi”) as a TV premiere. We summarize all the details.

Premiering in May 2026

“Tunnel to Summer” can therefore be seen on May 24, 2026 at 3:05 a.m. (night from Saturday to Sunday) with the German language version on ZDF. The evening filler is expected to be available in the ZDF media library afterwards.

The CLAP studio was responsible for the production of the approximately 83-minute film, which opened in Japanese cinemas in September 2022, and was directed by Tomohisa Taguchi (“Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War”).

KSM Anime released the film in German and Japanese language versions on DVD and Blu-ray. The original light novel written by Mei Hachimoku is available from Dokico with a German translation.

One summer morning before school, Kaoru hears a rumor about a mysterious tunnel: Whoever enters it will have their wishes come true – but in return they will lose their life. At first he thinks the story is a legend, until he encounters the Urashima Tunnel himself one night.

As he approaches the entrance, a thought occurs to him: Could the tunnel bring him back his younger sister, who died five years ago?
