The complete map of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has just dropped, via marketing materials and especially the Collector’s Edition cloth map, and fans are already dissecting every inch of the Caribbean. On the surface, Edward Kenway’s playing field remains the same as that of 2013, but several details change the situation.
At the heart of this current-gen remake driven by Ubisoft Singaporethe map retains its iconic triangle Havana – Nassau – Kingstonsurrounded by around fifty islands. However, three new destinations appear on the map, from an old DLC, while the open world becomes entirely fluid. Enough to reinvent exploration without betraying nostalgia.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced map: what does the full version finally reveal?
The visuals shared by fan accounts like Zephryss show a large handwritten map, almost identical to that of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag : same division of the Caribbean, same large cities, same central ocean dotted with islets. Players who know the route between Havana and Nassau will not be lost.
The difference comes from the way in which this card fits into a complete remake on the new Anvil Engine. The studio promises an open world without loading screens between sea, islands and ports, with dynamic weather and global lighting by ray tracing. Concretely, we should go from the Jackdaw Bridge to the streets of Kingston without any break, which greatly changes the feeling of this same geography.
New islands from Black Flag Resynced: what are Black Island, Mystery Island and Sacrifice Island hiding?
On the new map, three names immediately catch the eye: Black Island, Mystery Island And Sacrifice Island. In the original game, these islands were locked behind DLC Illustrious Pirates Packwhich offered treasure hunts, legendary pirate equipment and notably the Captain Morgan style outfit.
Seeing them integrated straight away into the base map suggests that some of this content will be accessible at no extra cost in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Be careful though: Ubisoft confirmed not to recreate story DLC or multiplayer, Freedom Cry understood, to focus on a solo adventure centered on Edward. It is therefore more a question of recycling certain locations and rewards in the main thread than of offering all of the old packs.
A smoother map for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced: what impact on exploration?
In 2013, the map was impressive in its size, but many of the jungles, mountains and coves served as simple backdrops, bounded by invisible walls or loading transitions. With Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft promises reworked islands and beaches, more additional activities and continuous boat – coast – city progression, without interruption.
Add to that revised combat and infiltration, as well as new missions, and the same map should appear significantly more dense and lively, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC from July 9, 2026. It remains to be seen how these new possibilities will exploit the three former DLC islands: first stop at Black Island, or direct return to Nassau to resume domination of the Caribbean?
