We are still waiting for the real sequel to Cyberpunk 2077but on PC, enthusiasts have just delivered a result for free which has everything of a Cyberpunk 2 unofficial. In its latest video, the YouTube channel Digital Dreams shows a Night City so realistic that you feel like you’re watching a movie.
The game of CD Projekt Red was already very solid visually, especially since the official path tracing mode on PC. But this “free cyberpunk 2077 remaster pc” goes much further, thanks to a combination of mods and shaders. There remains a crucial question for players: how does this remaster really transform the game, and above all, can your machine handle all that?
Cyberpunk 2077: a free PC remaster that makes you forget Cyberpunk 2?
In the video of Digital Dreams, Cyberpunk 2077 runs in 4K at around 150 fps on a showcase configuration equipped with a RTX 5090 and the ReShade preset BeyondAllLimits 3.3. The facades covered in neon are reflected on the soggy asphalt, the puddles reflect each advertising panel, and the windows of the buildings capture the slightest source of light.
One passage in particular is astonishing: the player crosses a bridge while running towards Night City, the light from the skyscrapers floods the road and one would swear a sequence captured in a real nocturnal metropolis. Even the less spectacular daytime scenes benefit from a more credible sun and ultra-detailed car bodies. The result clearly gives the impression of a next gen bis version, close to what one would expect from a real Cyberpunk 2.
What mods turn Cyberpunk 2077 into fake Cyberpunk 2 on PC?
Technically, this is not an official DLC, but a collection of free visual mods. The preset BeyondAllLimits 3.3 rests on ReShadea tool that applies graphics filters in real time, a bit like an ultra-advanced photo filter for PC games. Added to this are high-definition textures, reworked light settings and aggressive use of ray tracing and path tracing.
The point is that everything remains playable. Where certain modded montages require moving in slow motion to mask drops in frame rate, here the camera runs, drives, fights, without visible jerks. Night City seems denser, but also more readable, with better managed contrasts which make nighttime pursuits much more comfortable with a controller or keyboard in hand.
Can you enjoy this free Cyberpunk 2077 PC remaster, while waiting for Project Orion?
The other side of the coin is the configuration. The demo runs on a RTX 5090sometimes associated with a processor Ryzen 7 9800X3Da large amount of RAM and a very fast SSD. In other words, a tower costing several thousand euros, beyond the reach of most players.
The good news is that this remaster remains modular. With a card like an RTX 4070 or a Radeon RX 7800 XT, you can aim for 4K or 1440p while keeping the ReShade preset and improved textures, while reducing certain ray tracing effects. On a more modest configuration, it is better to limit yourself to HD textures and a lighter ReShade, while remaining at 1080p.
To test, you just need to have Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, to go to the channel Digital Dreamsthen retrieve the list of recommended mods and preset from the video description. You download from reliable sites, save your game files, and add the mods step by step. While waiting for CD Projekt Red officially unveils Project Orionthis free remaster is undoubtedly the best way to rediscover Night City on PC.
