Samsung accelerates the deployment of One UI 8.5its overlay based on Android 16, towards the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25. On the menu, four functions Galaxy AI until now reserved for Galaxy S26which mainly transform calls, audio and photos.
After a beta phase on the Galaxy S25 series since December 2025, the program has been officially extended to the Galaxy S24 in several countries. An internal firmware “S928BXXU5DZD9” for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, spotted by SamMobile, confirms these new AI features which are starting to be distributed via One UI 8.5.
One UI 8.5 on Galaxy S24 and S25: what are the key new AI functions?
The first new feature is called Advanced Audio Eraser. Directly accessible from the quick panel, it reduces parasitic noise in apps like YouTube, Instagram or Netflix, with a simple slider. Useful for making a concert video or vlog much more audible without changing the editing.
Call Screening tackles unwanted calls. The on-board AI answers for you, asks who is calling and why, records the conversation and produces a transcript so you can then decide whether to call back or not. The principle is reminiscent of Google Pixels, but here the processing is largely done on the device.
On the creative side, Creative Studio arrives like a small graphic workshop. On models equipped with a S Pen like the Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra, you can generate invitation cards, stickers or wallpapers from a sketch or a simple sentence. Finally, the new version of Photo Assist allows you to edit an image by text: add an object, merge a person from another photo or modify the atmosphere by describing the desired result.
Galaxy S24 and S25: what One UI 8.5 really changes on a daily basis
With One UI 8.5, Bixby evolves into a more useful conversational agent. You can tell it for example “I no longer want the screen to turn off when I look at it” and it directly adjusts the correct settings. Samsung explains that Bixby can also launch web searches in its own interface, without using the browser.
For France, Samsung indicates that Galaxy AI and Bixby support the French (France)although some features, like call screening, might arrive in a few languages first. Photo Assist is described on the French site as an “integrated editing studio” that can be controlled in natural language, with a mandatory AI watermark on the images generated in order to signal the use of these tools.
One UI 8.5 on Galaxy S24 / S25: when to install it and how to take advantage of it?
One UI 8.5 beta started on December 8, 2025 on the series Galaxy S25then was opened to Galaxy S24 end of March 2026 in certain markets. Several leaks suggest a transition to a stable version first on S25, then a gradual deployment on S24 in the second half of 2026 depending on the region. As always, the precise schedule depends on the country and operator.
To check the arrival of One UI 8.5, you have to go through the app Samsung Members for the beta, then through the Settings menu, Software update, Download and install. Better to make a backup and have at least 50% battery.
