Pokémon Legends: ZA continues its evolution since its launch in October 2025. The game remains very active thanks to its competitive multiplayer modes, and a new season of ranked battles has just been launched with new rewards.
This eighth season marks a new stage for the competitive scene of the game. Players can now participate in online clashes with renewed rules and a series of rewards to unlock as they progress in the ranking.
Pokémon Legends ZA introduces new rules for Ranked Battles
With this new season, the developers have decided to adjust the rules in order to renew the players’ strategy. The main change concerns the Pokémon allowed in the competition. Only Pokémon capable of using a Mega Evolution in the game or via the Mega Dimension additional content can participate in Ranked Battles. This rule significantly changes the composition of teams and pushes players to review their strategies.
All Pokémon are also set to level 50 in order to balance the clashes. Teams must consist of three unique Pokémon, which limits certain combinations and encourages a more tactical approach to battles. Some very powerful Pokémon were also excluded from the competition. Groudon, Kyogre and Mewtwo cannot be used during this season in order to maintain balance between teams.
A list of Pokémon eligible for competitive battles
The new season still allows you to use a large number of different Pokémon. Several popular creatures are on the allowed list. Among the Pokémon available in this competitive season, players can use Raichu, Dragonite, Skarmory, Absol, Garchomp, Lucario, Darkrai and Greninja.
Some Pokémon also have special forms linked to Mega Evolution, such as Mega Absol Z, Mega Garchomp Z or Mega Lucario Z. These transformations offer improved statistics and can change the course of a battle. This diversity allows trainers to experiment with different strategies and adapt their teams according to their play style.
Free rewards for players who advance in the rankings
One of the main attractions of Ranked Battles remains the possibility of unlocking exclusive rewards. This new season offers several items to collect depending on the rank reached. During the season, certain ranks allow you to obtain specific Mega Gems. For example, Rank S offers Blazikenite while other levels allow you to obtain items like Swampertite, Sceptilite or Greninjite.
At the end of the season, players also receive Mega Fragments. Rewards vary depending on final ranking and can reach up to 300 fragments for the best trainers. These resources are particularly useful for improving Pokémon and strengthening their abilities during competitive battles.
Pokémon Pokopia could turn some players away from the competition
Even if this new season promises many strategic battles, part of the community could be busy elsewhere. Another game from the Pokémon universe is currently attracting the attention of fans: Pokémon Pokopia. This title, centered on the creation of islands and the customization of environments, quickly won over many players.
The experience offered by Pokopia is very different from the competitive battles of Pokémon Legends: ZA. The game places more emphasis on creativity and exploration rather than competition.
Despite this, Ranked Battles remain an important pillar of Pokémon Legends: ZA and continue to encourage players to return regularly to test their strategies and improve their rank.
