A cozy new game could well attract the attention of Animal Crossing fans in the coming months. Called Animula Nook, this independent project developed by LilliLandia Games promises a miniature life simulation where everyday objects become elements of a village full of fantasy. Even before its official release, players will be able to try it for free thanks to a limited test phase.
This first playable experience will be offered as a closed alpha on Steam. Registration is open until March 15 and the test will begin on March 19. A rare opportunity to discover this game before its full release, especially since the developers are targeting several platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
Animula Nook, a cozy game directly inspired by Animal Crossing
Animula Nook is presented by its creators as a “warm, miniature life simulation game”. The principle is simple but particularly original: the player shrinks and must build his little universe in an environment that resembles an office transformed into a giant world.
Everyday objects then become construction resources. A simple bottle cap can serve as a roof, a glasses case can be transformed into a sofa or even lollipop sticks can form a fence. This creative approach immediately recalls the spirit of Animal Crossing, while offering a different visual universe.
The game takes place in a location called Starside Homestead, a space filled with objects reimagined to become buildings or decorations. The synopsis perfectly sums up this inventive spirit: “Make a house out of candy bars, transform a glasses case into a sofa or create roofs with bottle caps. At Starside Homestead, everything is at your disposal: what will be your next creation?”
A miniature world full of exploration and activities
Animula Nook’s main playing field is located on a desk, transformed into a real miniature village. The windowsill becomes a garden and a balcony, while the indoor plants change into vast forests. In this universe, players will be able to grow giant vegetables, customize their outfits and explore different areas like the enchanting Wupa Woods. The atmosphere is deliberately calm and warm, faithful to the codes of the cozy genre.
The developers have also imagined several original locations built from household objects. Milk cartons serve as houses, teacups transform into bustling cafes, and spice jars become tiny, bright shops. Beyond building and exploring, Animula Nook also provides social interactions. Players will be able to form a group with non-player characters and play music using eight available instruments.
A free alpha coming soon to Steam
Before the official release of the game, LilliLandia Games is offering players the opportunity to discover Animula Nook through an anticipated testing phase. This closed alpha will only be available on Steam.
Registrations will remain open until March 15. Interested players must register through the game’s official website in order to get a chance to participate. If their request is accepted, they will receive all the necessary instructions to access the test.
The play phase will begin on March 19. It will mark the first opportunity for the public to concretely discover the gameplay of Animula Nook and explore its miniature universe.
A release planned on several platforms
Although no specific release date has yet been announced, the developers have already confirmed several platforms for the final version of the game. Animula Nook is expected to arrive on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A PlayStation 5 version is also planned. The game is also expected on the future Nintendo Switch 2, but this adaptation should arrive later.
If the alpha test is well received, the full launch could take place between mid and end of 2026. In the meantime, this free phase represents the first opportunity for players to discover this project which could appeal to fans of cozy experiences and life simulations.
